"Learning through play is the Honeydew way!"
Honeydew School celebrated Krishna Janmashtami with devotion, colour, and a whole lot of childlike charm, as our little ones dressed up as Radha and Krishna and immersed themselves in the joyful traditions of the festival. The campus was filled with the spirit of Lord Krishna's birth, brought to life through costumes, games, and art.
Students arrived dressed as Radha and Krishna, complete with flower crowns, peacock feathers, flutes, and traditional attire in vibrant reds, yellows, and pinks. The little Krishnas and Radhas posed proudly for pictures, adding to the festive charm and making every corner of the school feel like a page out of the Janmashtami story.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Matki Phod activity, where blindfolded students, stick (or basuri) in hand, carefully made their way toward a beautifully decorated matki, trying to land the winning touch. The cheers, guidance from friends, and giggles that followed each attempt made this traditional game one of the most fun-filled moments of the celebration.
Students also enjoyed a quieter, creative side of the celebration, filling in Janmashtami-themed sketches with bright colours — from Krishna's flute to his beloved matki. With crayons and oil pastels in hand, children focused intently on bringing their pictures to life, adding their own artistic touch to the festival.
At Honeydew School, festivals like Janmashtami offer a wonderful opportunity for children to connect with stories, traditions, and values in a way that's hands-on and memorable. Watching our students dress up, play, and create with such enthusiasm was a joyful reminder of why we celebrate these festivals together as a school family.
